S’mores Yogurt

S’mores yogurt parfaits are a delicious, high-protein sweet treat that comes together in 5 minutes!

This smores yogurt was inspired when I was recently at the store and saw a new (to me) flavor of Greek yogurt called “Toasted Marshmallow”.

Now I will say, if you can’t find it, vanilla Greek yogurt works, too. But this treat couldn’t be simpler. Mix in some chocolate protein powder (or just cocoa powder if you don’t want the extra protein). Then create a smores parfait by layering with mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, and graham cracker crumbles.

Smores Yogurt Ingredients

ingredients to make smores yogurt high protein parfaits
  • Greek Yogurt: You need a 5.3 ounce container of yogurt (or you can approximate with a half cup of Greek yogurt from a tub). I prefer zero added sugar varieties, but you do you! If you can find the toasted marshmallow flavor of Greek yogurt, get it, if not, vanilla works.
  • Chocolate Protein Powder: This adds a huge protein boost and adds a chocolate richness to the marshmallow Greek yogurt. Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Protein is my personal favorite chocolate protein powder.
  • Mini Marshmallows: obviously you need marshmallows with anything smores! You only need a small amount, so you can use whatever meets your needs – regular marshmallows, no added sugar marshmallows, or vegan marshmallows.
  • Graham Crackers: you only need one rectangular graham cracker sheet, and again – do what works for you! Gluten-free graham crackers are an option, if needed!

Step-by-Step Directions

For complete instructions, please check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

mixing protein powder into greek yogurt for smores yogurt
  1. Add the protein powder to the Greek yogurt and whisk together until smooth.
  2. In a small container, layer a little of the chocolate Greek yogurt, then top with mini marshmallows, crumbled graham cracker, and mini chocolate chips. Repeat.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • Keep whisking: When you first start whisking the protein powder into the Greek it’s going to look clumpy and chalky and you’re going to think, “what have I done?!” It’s perfectly normal! Just keep whisking and stirring away and it’ll incorporate and become smooth!
  • If meal prepping: leave the graham cracker out on the side to crumble on top when you’re ready to it. If not, it gets soggy.

Substitutions

  • Plant-Based: Use your favorite plant-based vanilla high protein Greek-style yogurt, as well as a plant-based protein powder. Then ensure your graham crackers, mini chocolate chips, and marshmallows are all dairy free and plant-based, too. (All options linked are all dairy-free and vegan.)
  • Gluten-Free: Use gluten-free versions of all ingredients. Everything I’ve linked above in the plant-based note are all gluten-free, too.
  • Vanilla Greek Yogurt works as a great sub for toasted marshmallow Greek Yogurt.
  • Cocoa Powder can be used instead of protein powder, if you’re making this for kids or just don’t want the extra protein. Simply blend in 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder. It’ll again look a little thick/ chunky at first, but just keep whisking.
  • Plain Greek Yogurt: If you’re using plain Greek yogurt, add a splash of vanilla extract and your preferred sweetener of choice.

Storage & Meal Prep

Smores yogurt can be prepped and kept as is in a covered, airtight container in your fridge for up to 3-4 days.

If you’re prepping the parfaits, I’d leave the toppings packaged on the side to add at the time of serving.
