Avocado Ranch Lime Dressing
This Avocado Ranch Lime Dressing is a healthier copycat of the Chick-fil-a avocado lime ranch dressing, made lighter and higher protein, but full of that delicious, creamy southwest flavor.

If you’re a fan of Chick-fil-a’s avocado lime ranch dressing, but want to make your own lighter and more protein-packed version at home, you must make my avocado ranch lime dressing!
Why You’ll Love My Avocado Ranch Lime Dressing
- IT’S SO GOOD. Sorry for all caps, but truly it’s just divine.
- Protein-packed, thanks to swapping out the common creamy dressing base of mayo for protein-packed cottage cheese instead.
- You only need 7 ingredients.
- It’s easy to make – just add everything to a blender and blend until smooth.
- It stores well, thanks to the acid from the lime – no browning here!
- This dressing also makes a fantastic protein-packed dip for things like veggies, chicken nuggets, lunch wraps, and more.
Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
For a full ingredient list with quantities, please check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Cottage Cheese – I’ve made this with anywhere from 1% lowfat to 4% full fat cottage cheese, and it’s delicious every time (although obviously even creamier and thicker with the full fat cottage cheese).
- Avocado – such a nutrient-packed food, full of healthy fats, fiber, antioxidants, and many micronutrients!
- Lime – to fully amplify the lime flavor, you want to use the zest and the juice of a whole lime. So be sure to zest it before you juice it!
- Apple Cider Vinegar – adds a little extra acidity, without making the dressing overwhelmingly limey.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil – a beautiful, heart-healthy oil, but you can sub avocado oil, too.
- Ranch Seasoning – use your favorite store-bought or homemade ranch seasoning blend.
- Cumin – a little goes a long way, but adding a smidge truly brings out that southwestern flavor and more closely aligns it to the Chick-fil-a version.
- Water – I prefer a slightly more “drizzle-able” consistency for salads, so I like to blend in some water for the perfect texture. If you want it super thick as a dip, omit!
How to Make Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
For complete instructions, please check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
It doesn’t get much easier! Ensuring you both zest and juice your lime, add all ingredients to a blender. Blend on high for one minute, or until everything is smooth.
Tips and Variations
- Like a little heat? Add some sriracha and/ or crushed red pepper flakes!
- Use it as a dip – as is, or omit the water for a super thick dip.
Storage
Store this dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
You can also store it directly in the bottom of meal prepped salad jars, like with my Chicken BLT Salads.
I don’t recommend freezing it.
