Reasons You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • Super Simple Supper – minimal ingredients, minimal time, but max flavor.
  • High in Protein – one naan pizza makes 2 servings, and each serving has over 30 grams of protein!
  • Low in Added Sugar – barbecue sauce can be a huge hidden source of added sugar, but I use a no added sugar barbecue sauce to keep that in check.
  • Flexible Servings – you can easily scale this recipe to 2 servings, 4 servings, 6 servings or more, based on how much your family needs.
  • 15 Minutes – perfect for those busy nights where you need dinner on the table quickly!
  • Family-Friendly – if your family likes BBQ, this will definitely be a family-friendly dinner winner!

  • Naan – using naan is a fantastic time-saving hack for making a quick flatbread-style pizza.
  • Barbecue Sauce – I prefer to use a barbecue sauce with no added sugar to be mindful of added sugar intake, but you do what works for you/ use whichever barbecue sauce you prefer!
  • Chicken – you need pre-cooked and shredded chicken. Rotisserie works great, or any kind of leftover chicken you have on hand (I love meal prepping my baked thin sliced chicken!)
  • Cheese – I typically use shredded mozzarella, but you can also use cheddar, monterey, or colby cheeses, too (or any kind of a blend!).
  • Red Onion – sliced red onions add a fun little flavor and texture contrast!
  • Green Onion or Cilantro – honestly, I enjoy both as a garnish and pop of fresh flavor and just which whichever I have on hand.

Tips and Variations

  • Gluten-Free – gluten-free naan can be tricky to find, so your best alternative would be gluten-free pita or gluten-free pizza dough/ ready made pizza crust.
  • Dairy-Free – use your favorite plant-based cheese alternative
  • Skip the Onions – not an onion fan? That’s okay – just skip them!
  • Make it Spicy – add a drizzle of sriracha on top!
  • Add Different Veggies – you can also add some chopped spinach, diced zucchini, bell peppers, or sliced mushrooms to your flatbread. Or go really crazy and mix in some finely shredded carrots into your barbecue sauce (I know that sounds nuts, but they add a little sweetness and texturally blend right in!)

Serving Suggestions:

While this BBQ chicken flatbread definitely packs a protein punch, I’m always a fan of adding plants to a meal, too! Try some of these veggie sides:

And for super simple sides, we love a good steamed frozen veggie or salad kit!

Meal Prep, Storing & Reheating

I’ll be honest – fresh, hot from the oven is my favorite way to enjoy this flatbread! But they can be reheated! My preferred way to reheat is actually in the air fryer at 350 for 4-5 minutes. The naan gets nice and crisp again!

You can also reheat it in the microwave. The naan is a sturdier flatbread base, but note that it won’t be as crisp reheated in the microwave!

If you’re okay with reheating, these flatbreads can actually make a great meal prep option — a fun way to switch up a high protein lunch!

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. It can also be frozen for up to 1 month, too!
