Ingredient Notes & Substitutions:
For a full ingredient list with quantities, please check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Green Beans – you need a bag of frozen green beans — I like the ones labeled “fine” green beans, as they’re longer and thinner than the “cut” frozen green beans.
- Oil – I recommend avocado oil due to its higher smoke point/ ability to cook well at higher temps, but you can also use extra virgin olive oil.
- Seasonings – garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper
- Parmesan – partially through roasting, you’ll toss the green beans and top with grated parmesan. It melts, parts get a little crispy, and add the most delicious finish.
How to Make Roasted Frozen Green Beans
For complete instructions, please check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
Add oil and seasonings to a bowl of the frozen green beans and toss to combine.
Spread frozen green beans out onto a sheet pan and roast. Part way through roasting, flip the green beans on the pan, then top with grated parmesan and return to the oven until the parmesan has melted and gotten a little crispy.
Tips and Variations
- Don’t crowd the green beans. You want to space them out on the sheet pan as best as you can, and try to make sure they’re not overlapping and touching. This will allow more of the moisture to escape and help them get crispy.
- Opt for frozen fine green beans instead of cut green beans. The fine green beans are longer, thinner, more tender, and look a little fancier, if you’re wanting to serve at a more elevated meal.
- Need dairy-free? Skip the parmesan, or substitute with your favorite non-dairy parmesan alternative.
Can You Meal Prep Frozen Green Beans?
You sure can! Note that the won’t be crispy once refrigerated and if reheated in the microwave, but they still will be tender and pack delicious flavor.
Store the green beans in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For optimal results, reheat under the broiler or in the air fryer for a few minutes.
