  • Easy – all you need are 3 main ingredients plus some staple seasonings.

ingredients to make baked turkey meatballs
  • Ground Turkey – I recommend 93/7 lean ground turkey. You can also sub ground chicken or lean ground beef.
  • Breadcrumbs – I use my whole wheat breadcrumbs, but you can use whatever you have on hand or prefer, including gluten-free.
  • Egg – this helps bind the meatball together.
  • Seasonings – while these are seasoned simply, they’re still seasoned and flavorful! You need garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.

How to Make Baked Turkey Meatballs

For complete instructions, please check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Combine all the ingredients to a bowl and stir until just combined.

Use a cookie scoop to scoop and then roll the meat mixture into evenly sized balls. Place on a parchment lined sheet pan, spritz with a little oil, then bake.

Tips and Variations

  • Gluten-Free – use gluten-free breadcrumbs (same amount).
  • Egg-Free – I have not tested these meatballs with this method, but in other meatball recipes I’ve successfully used the flax egg method (1 tbsp ground flax seed + 3 tbsp warm water, let sit a few minutes, then use as 1 egg equivalent). If you try this (or any other method) please let us know how it goes in the comments!
  • Seasoning – if you have other favorite seasonings, by all means – season with your heart! Italian seasoning and basil are great adds for Italian-style meatballs. If you’re looking for even simpler you can also do just salt and pepper.
  • Fresh Herbs – I’m the biggest fan of using fresh herbs in cooking, and some minced parsley or basil is delish either mixed into the meatball or garnished on top.

Meal Prep: How to Store & Reheat

These turkey meatballs meal prep fabulously. Bake as directed in the recipe, then store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

They can be reheated in the microwave, oven, in a pot with sauce, in the crock pot with sauce, or even in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • ½ cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper (for easier clean up, you can bake straight on the pan, too).
  • To a large bowl, add ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, and seasonings and mix just until combined. Use a small cookie scoop to scoop each meatball, then roll and place on the sheet pan.
1 lb lean ground turkey, 1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • To give a little extra browning on top, lightly spray or brush avocado or olive oil on top of the meatballs before baking. Bake for 15 minutes, or until meatballs reach 165°F internal temperature.
  • Serve immediately or store in the fridge or freezer in an airtight container. Enjoy!

Notes

Size Note: I use a small cookie scoop to make small meatballs, as that’s what my kids prefer, but you can absolutely make these into bigger meatballs and just add 2-3 minutes cooking time (temp should still be at 165 F when done).
Breadcrumb Note: You can use plain (not seasoned) breadcrumbs or gluten-free breadcrumbs, too.
