Ingredients & Substitutions:
For a full ingredient list with quantities, please check out the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Green Apple: One diced green apple split between the two cups. The tart crunch is what makes it taste like a Snickers salad. Honeycrisp works too, just know that it will be sweeter.
- Vanilla Greek Yogurt, Zero Added Sugar: Half a cup across both servings. Use a thick Greek yogurt as the juices from the apple will thin it slightly.
- Caramel Protein Powder: One scoop stirred into the yogurt. This is where most of the protein and a lot of the caramel flavor comes from. I love Clean Simple Eats and use their Caramel Toffee protein powder, but you can use any caramel flavored protein powder you prefer.
- Crushed Peanuts: One tablespoon over both cups, for the Snickers crunch.
- Mini Chocolate Chips: One tablespoon. Minis spread the chocolate through more bites than regular chips.
- Caramel Drizzle: a little drizzle goes a long way!

Tips and Variations
- Tart green apple is doing real work here, it is what makes the whole thing taste like a Snickers salad. A sweet apple makes the cup noticeably sweeter.
- It’s best enjoyed the day it is made. The apple starts to release extra juices after that.
- Protein powder flavors: vanilla or snickerdoodle Clean Simple Eats both work in place of caramel toffee. With vanilla, the caramel drizzle carries more of the caramel flavor.
- Nut swap: pecans or walnuts instead of peanuts. Still crunchy, less Snickers, more caramel apple pie.
- Extra crunch: a tablespoon of granola on top with the peanuts and chips.
- Peanut butter version: stir in 1 tablespoon of peanut butter powder with the protein powder for a peanut butter caramel apple cup.
- Party size: double or triple it in a big bowl instead of cups and serve it Snickers salad style for a group, toppings on right before serving.
Meal Prep & Storage
These caramel apple cups are best enjoyed fresh! You can refrigerate for up to a day in advance, but make sure you give it a stir before eating, as the apples can release a little extra moisture as they sit.
I don’t recommend freezing!

They are best enjoyed the day they are made. If prepping ahead, be sure to give it a stir before serving, as extra juices can release from the apple as it sits. You may also then want to reserve any toppings (extra chocolate chips, nuts, and caramel drizzle) for when you serve.
I’m a big fan of use what you have — but that said, a green apple gives the tart Snickers salad flavor. Honeycrisp is a sweeter swap.
A simple caramel drizzle, plus caramel toffee protein powder in the yogurt. No date caramel, no homemade caramel step – though both would be great additions if you prefer them!
It has the same flavor family, green apple, peanuts, chocolate, and caramel, in a higher protein yogurt cup instead of the usual whipped topping base.
