8poundsof applespeeled, cored, and thinly sliced (can use any variety of apples)
½cupwater
¼cuppure maple syrup
1tablespoonpure vanilla extract
1tablespooncinnamon
½teaspoonnutmeg
Instructions
Once apples are cleaned, prepared, and sliced thinly, pack them into your slow cooker (mine is a 6-quart slow cooker and the thinly sliced apples filled it to the brim!). Add remaining ingredients and give a quick stir.
Cook in slow cooker on low for 5-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
If you're home during the cooking process, you can give a quick stir occasionally. The apples will continue to cook down during the cooking process.
Use a potato masher or an immersion blender to get desired consistency (I used a masher because my husband prefers the more texture than the smooth puree you get from an immersion blender).
Eat warm or cold. Keep in airtight container in fridge, or store in freezer longer term.
