These Cherry Cheesecake Protein Pops are a healthy treat based off a classic dessert. Bonus? They have just four ingredients and a punch of protein!
I know I’ve mentioned it on here before, but there’s an ice cream truck lady who lives in my neighborhood (the one I got my deep freezer from!). How fun, right? Now that it’s the spring (which means summer has started here in Florida) you can hear her truck rambling through our streets playing those classic melodies. I just find the whole thing so nostalgic! Although, was it just me or were ice cream trucks like unicorns and super rare when we were kids? Our neighborhood kids don’t realize they’re living in the lap of luxury! 😉
These Cherry Cheesecake Protein Pops were inspired by all the fun of spring and summer evenings, ice cream trucks, and of course the upcoming National Cherry Cheesecake Day holiday on April 23 (yes, that’s apparently a thing 😉 ). They’re sweet and delicious and beyond simple to throw together. You just need four ingredients, a blender, a freezer, and any set of 4 popsicle molds (I’m pretty sure mine were from a dollar store).
These little protein pops were also inspired by YOU! I’m always asked for more sweet treats that offer a little more balance by having some protein. You guys ask, and I will do my best to deliver! These Cherry Cheesecake Protein Pops fit just the bill.
What You Need:
- frozen dark sweet cherries
- cottage cheese (I used low-fat, but you can use whatever you have in your fridge)
- neufchatel cheese or cream cheese
- agave or honey
- optional: chocolate melted with a little coconut oil for that drizzle!
If you’re looking to amp up the sweet a little more, you could add a few mini chocolate chips to the popsicle molds or drizzle with a little chocolate. Because, I don’t know about you, but if I’m having dessert I pretty much always want it to have chocolate. 😉
Also, one last note – if you think you don’t like cottage cheese, still give these a try. I typically don’t enjoy eating cottage cheese, but I love it in things like smoothies and these protein pops. It adds a nice creaminess, and the 1/4 cup of cottage cheese found in each of the protein pops provides about 6.5 grams of protein. I’ll take it!
I hope you and your family enjoy these Cherry Cheesecake Protein Pops. Now if only we could get the ice cream truck lady to stock her truck with them… 😉 Be well!
